Two complete decks — Daily Life (A1) and Work & Study (A2) — are free, and they stay free. Not a sample, not a preview with three cards and a paywall. Every card in a free deck opens, reviews, and schedules like any other. The paid decks simply add three more CEFR levels, and that is the only thing they add.
Reviews are scheduled with SM-2, the algorithm from 1987, implemented as a small pure function you can actually test. You get two choices per card — Still learning or Got it — and the app works out when to show it next. No 0–5 grading scale, no numbers to decode, no streak counter guilt-tripping you.
There is no backend to sync with, because there is no backend. The release build requests no internet access at all. Planes, subways, and dead zones behave exactly like anywhere else, and your progress lives in a local database on your device that you own outright.
No fake countdowns, no forced sign-in, no “upgrade” sheet popping up in the middle of a review, no nags. No analytics, no crash telemetry, no advertising ID. Restore your purchase whenever you like, and uninstalling deletes your data — because we never held it.
Most vocabulary apps are a subscription with a study screen in front of it.
